Julian Wilkins
Julian is a self-employed solicitor and is consultant to various London law practices.
Julian is a qualified solicitor, Notary Public, CEDR Accredited commercial mediator and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and Arbitration Ireland. Julian has a M.Phil in tortious liability and economic loss. Julian has a diploma in European law, and
a Diploma in International Arbitration awarded by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
His main area of experience is commercial and intellectual property (IP) law; Julian has considerable experience in both advisory/transactional commercial work and litigation including actions against major banks, record companies and broadcasters as well as class actions.
Renewable energy commercial transactional work includes advising various renewable energy cooperatives including RePower Balcombe (and also a director of that co-operative), Community Energy South, OVESCO and Energise South Coast. Julian was the in-house solicitor to Riding Sunbeams, including advising upon the first solar traction pilot with Network Rail at Aldershot railways station.
Julian has lectured for University of Sussex on commercial law to final year undergraduates, and is a guest lecturer at the University of Reading- Legal and Economic Aspects of Intellectual Property Law, Fintech and AI in Financial Markets'; and Smart Contracts and Privacy Issues in Financial Technologies. He has also undertaken various speaker roles, for instance CENEX panellist alongside the Law Commission on legal issues relating to autonomous vehicles, and Automotive EV on the regulation of EV vehicles.
Also, Julian has a keen interest in journalism and writing having entered various script competitions. He was for several years Editor of Independent Television News (ITN) 1955 Club Newsletter and remains its Editor at Large. Julian founded and edited Blue Pencil magazine devoted to IP issues. Julian runs a legal clinic for the London Screenwriters’ Festival.
