Anna Yapp

Anna started her journey in the energy sector after a placement year as an Environmental Engineer at Pembroke Power Station (RWE) in South-Wales. After this amazing experience she decided, she would like to work in renewable energy generation instead of oil and gas. Anna decided to base her undergraduate dissertation on the spatial distribution of wind farms across Scotland using GIS mapping techniques. She created a model that took a range of assumptions, worked out by assessing each range of criteria current wind farms had been developed in, and worked out the remaining locations across Scotland that wind farms could be developed.

Since graduating from Loughborough University with a BSc in Geography Anna has been working in the community energy sector as a Project Developer and Manager with RenewEV (now Empowered Projects). Predominantly working across the South-West of England she has helped to develop around 1.5MW of rooftop solar PV with involvement in early-stage wind and solar projects across several community groups. She has worked with groups including Bristol Energy Cooperative, Bath and West Community Energy and Avalon Community Energy.
