NLCE solar co-op have almost reached their goal!
North Lincolnshire Community Energy, part of the Energy4All family of co-ops, is over 95% of the way to it's target share of £700,000. The money raised in community shares will fund rooftop solar panels on schools and community buildings in Scunthorpe and the surrounding area of North Lincolnshire. If you have been on the fence about becoming a member, now is the time to invest in the community scheme, they have an expected return rate of 5% and this WON'T be affected by the recent Bank of England decision to cut to interest rates.
They have an online Q&A session coming up which anyone can attend, members and non-members alike. Book your free place using the Eventbrite link.
NLCE have already been busy with 'Phase 2' of their development: new solar panels on the rooftops Kingfisher Lodge children's home and Lindsey Lodge Hospice have been commissioned in the last few weeks. They have used existing funding to install the solar panels on these sites, the buildings do not have to pay for the panels and they will benefit from significantly cheaper electricity rates.
The co-op have saved schools and community buildings an incredible £200,000 on their energy bills just since their launch in early 2023. This, with their support from North Lincolnshire Town Council, led to the partnership winning the Community Energy England award for best Local Authority Partnership in 2023. We can't wait to see what the future has in store for them.
